Playgroups
Open Door runs playgroup sessions for 2-3, 3-4 and then structured groups for 4+ year olds. Playgroup lasts for up to three hours, depending on the session and are held daily during the Swiss school-term.
Ages 2-3
Children aged 2-3 meet for two and a half hours and do arts and crafts, sing, play and have a snack together during playgroup. These groups have a maximum of 10 children and are supervised by two Playgroup leaders. Children aged 3-4 meet for three hours and do much the same as the younger children. These groups have a maximum of twelve children and are also supervised by two playgroup leaders.
Ages 4+
Structured groups for the 4+ year olds are for children who begin to recognize then learn letters and numbers. These groups have a smaller number of children are supervised by one structured group teacher and meet for two and a half hours. Playgroup Information
Open Door playgroups are for English-speaking children. We do not teach English. In the playgroups, up to a maximum of 20% may be non-mother tongue English speakers, to ensure that it is an English-speaking group. We also encourage to speak English with their children whilst on the Open Door premises.
Playgroup Sign Up
To apply for a place in a playgroup, please call the Open Door @ 061 361 1710. Leave a message on the answering machine and the Playgroup Coordinator will call you back. She will then register your child in the most appropriate playgroup according to age if a place is available; otherwise she will place your child on the waiting list. You must pay the Open Door membership fee and turn in a completed insurance form in order to be given a place in a playgroup.
The Open Door requires 4 weeks notice of your intention to take your child out of playgroup.
